I found it very helpful to slow down the playback speed when I am learning a new song, particularly when I need to get the notes of a riff or try to catch the chord changes. Here’s how I do it in MS Windows Media Player (for Windows 7)

1. Start by playing the song then switch to the Now Playing mode by clicking the Switch to Now Playing buttonPicture of the Switch to Now Playing button at the bottom right corner

2. Right-click at any open space. This will show a menu. Select Enhancements, and then select Play speed settings.

Step 2 - Enhancements

3. Click the Slow, Normal, or Fast link or move the Play Speed slider to the desire speed. Un-check the Snap slider to common speeds checkbox if you want to select speeds between the labeled play speeds.

Step 3 - Select Speed

4. Click the Close button Picture of the Enhancements Close buttonat the top right corner when done.
